    What is a Pop-Tart?

    A Pop-Tart is a brand of toaster pastries that consists of a thin pastry crust with a filling inside. They are typically rectangular in shape and come in a variety of flavors such as fruit, chocolate, and cinnamon. Pop-Tarts are often frosted and can be enjoyed straight out of the package or warmed in a toaster. They're a popular convenience food, commonly eaten for breakfast or as a snack.

    • two, nine inch round pie crusts. I used store-bought!
    • brown sugar
    • cinnamon
    • flour
    • butter

    Storing homemade brown sugar pop tarts with pie crust properly will help maintain their freshness and flavor. Here's how you can do it:

    1. Cool Completely: Allow the homemade pie crust pop tarts to cool completely at room temperature before storing them. This prevents condensation from forming inside the storage container, which could make the pastries soggy.
    2. Air-Tight Container: Transfer the cooled homemade pop tarts with pie crust to an air-tight container. You can use a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid or a resealable plastic bag. Make sure the container is clean and dry before adding the Pop-Tarts.
    3. Layering: If you need to stack the pie crust pop tarts on top of each other in the container, place a sheet of parchment paper or wax paper between the layers. This prevents them from sticking together and preserves their appearance.
    4. Room Temperature or Refrigerator: Homemade pop tarts with pie crust can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days if they are filled with shelf-stable ingredients like fruit preserves. However, if they contain perishable fillings such as cream cheese or fresh fruit, it's best to store them in the refrigerator. They will keep for about 5-7 days in the fridge.
    5. Freezing (Optional): If you want to extend the shelf life of your homemade Pop-Tarts, you can freeze them. Wrap each individual pastry tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then place them in a freezer-safe container or resealable freezer bag. Frozen homemade Pop-Tarts can last for up to 2-3 months.
    6. Thawing: When you're ready to enjoy a frozen pie crust pop tart, simply remove it from the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or heat it in a toaster oven for a few minutes until warmed through.

    Ingredients
      

    Pie Crusts

    • 2 9 inch pie crusts storebought is great!
    • 1 tablespoon butter melted

    Brown Sugar Filling

    • ½ cup dark brown sugar
    • 2 tablespoon flour
    • 2 tablespoon cinnamon this is a heavy amount of cinnamon. If you like a lighter cinnamon taste, reduce to 1 tbsp.
    • 1-2 tablespoon butter melted. Filling should be slightly like coarse mildy damp sand.

    Brown Sugar Glaze

    • ½ cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon cinnamon should make icing light brown
    • 1 tablespoon warm water

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat oven to 350F.
    • Mix together brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Set Aside. Filling should be mildly damp like a not very wet sand. Butter amount may need to increase if your brown sugar is dried out.
    • On a parchment lined baking sheet, place one, round, 9' pie dough crust.
    • Spread 1 tablespoon of melted butter on pie crust.
    • Place filling mix on pie crust, leaving a 1" circle perimeter on the outside of crust uncovered. With a gentle but firm hand, press filling into pie crust.
    • Place second pie crust directly on top of first. Press the edges together. Crimp edges using a fork.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Check after 10 minutes to see if you need to rotate your baking sheet for even browning.
    • Cool for 1 hour before frosting and cutting.

    Cinnamon Glaze

    • Combine ½ cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon. cinnamon, and 1-2 Tbs. water. Mix until fluid, but glaze should not be runny. Pour over top pie crust. Allow to set up before cutting.
    • Cut and enjoy!
