If you’ve ever wondered exactly how big an Oreo cookie really is, you’re not alone. A standard Oreo measures about 1.8 inches across, weighs around 11 grams, and holds a nearly perfect balance of 60% chocolate wafer to 40% cream filling. Each cookie has two crisp wafers that are roughly 3 millimeters thick, sandwiching a sweet cream center that’s about 2.5 to 3 millimeters high.

Whether you’re baking, scaling up recipes, or just curious about your favorite cookie’s dimensions, knowing the real size of an Oreo makes it easier to compare, recreate, or remix them at home.

    Huge Oreo Cookies

When you scale an Oreo up to a three-inch cookie, everything changes. A regular Oreo is about 1.8 inches wide, so a 3-inch version is roughly 1.6 times larger in diameter and almost three times heavier. That means more chocolate wafer, more cream filling, and a lot more drama. To keep the proportions true, the middle cream needs to be about 4 to 5 millimeters thick, weighing close to 12 grams all on its own. The result is a cookie that looks like an Oreo’s supersized cousin. Familiar, but wildly satisfying to hold and eat.

Does Oreo sell just the cookie?

Unfortunately, Oreo doesn’t officially sell the cookies without the filling, at least not in regular grocery stores. However you can buy the large 3" Oreo wafers online! Mine came from Walmart but you can also get them from the Webstaurant store.

    1. Crisco Shortening
    2. Powdered Sugar
    3. Vanilla

The creamy center of an Oreo is surprisingly easy to recreate at home. You only need three ingredients: Crisco, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix them together until the texture turns smooth, and thick, like playdoh that holds its shape. That’s it. This quick blend gives you that signature sweet, slightly firm Oreo filling without any special equipment or long ingredient lists

    Equipment

    • Stand mixer with paddle attachment
    • Parchment Paper
    • Rolling Pin
    • 3" round biscuit cutter
