Reese's Muddy Buddies is a viral treat thats makes you go "Why haven't I done this before?!" You know that thing muddy buddies do where they take a completely normal snack and make it impossible to stop eating? Same energy here, except we're skipping the cereal and going straight for the good stuff.

This is peanut butter chocolate coating stretched thin over a whole bag of mini Reese's cups, tumbled in powdered sugar until every piece is coated like tiny candy-shop treasure. Zero baking, one bowl, and it disappears from the counter faster than anything I've made in a while.

Ingredients (and why they matter)

- 1 bag mini Reese's cups, unwrapped — the whole point. Keep them mini so the coating-to-candy ratio stays perfect and they're actually poppable.
- ½ cup Reese's peanut butter chips — this is what gives the coating that deep peanut butter flavor instead of just tasting like melted chocolate.
- ½ cup chocolate chips — balances out the peanut butter chips and helps everything set up with a little snap.
- ¼ cup Reese's peanut butter — thins the coating out so it actually spreads thin and even instead of clumping.
- ½ tablespoon butter — just enough to keep the mixture glossy and fluid so it coats instead of seizing.
- 3 cups powdered sugar — this is your muddy buddies coating. It keeps every piece from sticking together and gives you that classic dusty white finish.
Equipment

- Microwave-safe bowl
- Large mixing bowl with a lid
- Spatula
Directions

- Melt the peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, and butter together, stirring just until fluid and smooth. You want it pourable, not hot.
- Spoon some of the chocolate mixture over about 1 cup of Reese's cups at a time and stir until each piece is coated.
- Sprinkle ½ cup of powdered sugar over the coated Reese's cups.
- Move everything around the bowl with your hand in a circular motion until each piece separates and gets an even coating of powdered sugar.
- Repeat in batches until the whole bag is coated.
- Let everything sit for a few minutes so the coating firms up, then enjoy.
Baker’s Notes (aka what’s actually happening)

- Working in batches (about a cup of Reese's at a time) instead of dumping the whole bag in at once is what keeps every piece coated instead of clumping into one giant candy mass. If your coating starts to firm up before you finish coating everything, pop it back in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to loosen it back up. These are best the day they're made, once the powdered sugar starts absorbing moisture from the chocolate the outside loses that fresh dusty texture.
